Creature

Greetings:
After a while without modelling at all, i decided yesterday to give it a go and this is what resulted, Blender & Zbrush. I also leave a screen-cap of zbrush where you can see all the detail in the bump and displacement, that i couln`t get it to look right in blender.

Amazing man. I love the textures an modeling…

I’d love to see this done in sharp construct with a bump map.

Yeah great!
I would like to see the wire before ZBrush :).

Anyway good work so far!

what settings on the Disp map did you use to make it work in blender. I am trying to get all the details out of my disp maps and yet the 8 bit max really deadens things. Yet your renders seem much more detailed than mine.

I like it a lot even though the texture looks a bit smudgy or pixelated. Great job nevertheless.

Great work on the Zbrush portion. Nice Blender render too.

Thanks for all the nice comments, i wasnt at all happy with the texture, so i decided to give it another try, this time going for a darker & more threatenig look, and this time i achieved a little more out of zbrush texture, hope you like this version. Framedworld, is a bit tricky, unfortunately there isnt a magic fromula, i usually export a higher poly version from Zbrush and generate both the displacement and the normal map, then its a matter of playing with the nor value for the normal map, for the displacement set the value of nor to 0 and play with the disp value, then a lot of tests, if you try this be carefull with the mesh that you export from Zbrush, Blender can`t handle too many polygons, it hangs, the biggest poly count i managed to get to blender was around 350,000, but i guess it depends on your pc specs. Another aproach is to export the displacement and then in photoshop turn it to 8bit, and again play with the values, also generate the cavitymap from zbrush and use it as nor and as color to darken and improve the effect.

ahuri, i`ll see if i kept the blender file prior to exporting it and upload it.

Vylaroth hopefully you like this textures better.

Nice one mate!, I think the first tender looks almost like a painting!

The second render is nice, but the little red artifacts look kind of funky…
Nice work!

I love the model, but the textures turn me off a bit. Though it could look better within an environment.

Four start from me though, just because I like the model.

The new darker version looks good but I still think the textures need a bit of work. But as Hippie said, it could work better with a background and maybe some post production. Great model still.

I apologize for reviving an old thread, but after experimenting with the material nodes for another project i decided to give this one a makeover, completely redone all of the textures, materials and lighting. Straight from blender, i only added a bit of glow and the sign in photoshop. hope you like it.

this looks absolutely great

Wow, I wouldn’t have known it was the same render. The textures look great, the lighting looks better, too.

Looks good to me! The textures looks better than the previous versions also.
And on a side note, I think its ok to revive old threads if they’re yours, especially with a cool update.

oh man, thats amazing! waayy better than the last renders. Great work!
