Here is an animation done in Blender. The (limited) 2D work was done in GIMP.
The sounds were obtained from Freesound, with the sound editing done in Audacity. It was all done on Ubuntu, so one can say it was all done “open source” 
It is part of a low-budget commercial project, so it does not aim to be Pixar/BBB quality.
