I’m new to the forum and new to blender. Here is an image i’ve created and I don’t know how to improve it. So if any of you can give me some advises to what I can do better it would be very helpful.
The scene is rather simple. I don’t think it’s a good idea to put most of your main subject in a dark shadow so you can’t see it well. More light on it, even if it has some cast shadows falling on it
Shadows could lead the eye to the main subject. If tree trunks cross those leading lines, they cut them because they create vertical lines themselves
Horizon line is up, so we’re looking it on a downwards angle. Might be better to have the camera on a more natural level, like a person taking a picture. If the door is same size as a person, the camera would be the same level as the top parts of the door
Could push the frame to the side a bit to have the front/door where the thirds cross on the right
Don’t need the foreground tree trunk on the left. It’s in awkward place and even if it’s meant to be out of focus, it still has a high contrast point with the core shadow which creates new edge of the frame before the actual edge of the frame.
Modeling, materials, textures
The cabin has too many hard edges. It looks like it was made of reclaimed wood just recently, but the wood hadn’t been treated with anything
Additional assets next to the cabin could hint of the purpose of the cabin, and/or a story
Detail level decreases as the distance increases. Foreground elements should be most detailed both in form and textures. Ground texture on the foreground is not enough without a form. Could fake that but additional modeled twigs and other debris wouldn’t hurt. Maybe even some shrubbery for the knights who say NI!
