Its been a few years since posting anything on Blenderartists, mainly because my work moved away from design and illustration to organising and writing EU and UK standards. Argueing between UK industry, government and the EU commission became all too stressful so I have thrown the towel in and am taking a career break. Fortunately it has given me the time to rediscover Blender and start creating illustrations again.
Getting to grips with Blender 2.7X and cycles has been a great distraction from the stresses of the last job. The watch is the first project where I am trying to get to grips with cycles. Hopefully over the next few months I will get the time to post more.

Thanks for the comments, I have tried rotating the world image, but with the full glass reflection it was always overpowering the watch face. In the end I added a black circle just out of shot and directly in line with the reflection. then added only the face over the original image as the black circle spoilt the reflections in the chrome. I then added a hint of reflection back into the glass adding the image with full reflection in overlay mode using Gimp. Hopefully this looks better.
Thanks Ricky, you are right about the gear size. The model deserved a bit more care and attention, so I am part way through a new mechanism using reference photo’s and a little imagination.
