On short, when I try to align a 2mm cube to the X Y axis by pressing G + X + Ctrl it snaps correctly but a 2 m cube does not. Why is that?

The unit scale and the grid scale are not connected to each other so if you have 0.001 in both (for mm as in beginning of video) your standard cube has 2mm and your snapping matches. Then you wanted a 2m cube but didn’t generated it with 2m size in the context popup Add Cube → Size:… and also didn’t scaled it in edit mode or object mode and applied scale but changed the dimensions… okay Scale and Dimensions are a bit weird because they change both… one is a relative factor the other an absolute value and a great pitfall is to have different object with different scales (but thats another story…). the reason why you don’t see the cube which is 1000x greater is shown in the right panel View → View CLipping… it’s set to 0.01mm to 1000m so you 2m cube is “out of bounds”. For this example you may have choosen a unit/grid scale of 0.01? (so editing object which differ by a factor of 1000 is not easy anyway and the snapping is’nt bound to the object but overal scale).
