CUDA not working with Cycles???

Hi guys,

I’ve hit a HUGE problem that’s preventing me from using my new nVidia 550Ti card.

After installing CUDA, setting Blender up to use the card and trying to render even a basic scene I get nothing. Just a blank preview with the little squares in it.

When I’ve launched Blender in a Terminal and doing the same process above I get the following two errors:

CUDA error: Launch failed in cuMemAlloc(&device_pointer, size)

and

CUDA error: Launch failed in cuMemFree(cuda_device_ptr(mem.device_pointer))

I haven’t got a clue what that means, nor how to fix it, so any help would be amazing as I want to start shaving my render times from something like 5 hours on just a CPU to under 2 hours

Thanks!

Jamie.

Does CUDA work in a simple scene. If your scene is complex you may be running out of video memory

No, I tried running the first test with the default cube, light and camera with no textures or materials.

You can try using a Blender version with precompiled CUDA kernel (You do not need to install CUDA toolkit), for example download daily build from here:
http://builder.blender.org/download/

unpacking and running (double click) the “blender” file.
