CUDA: Out of memory on Mac

Hello,

My name is Andrew Macht and was wondering if someone could help me with a Cycles problem. I am having problems trying to run Cycles GPU rendering on the latest version of Blender 2.65a. I keep receiving the error message:

CUDA error: Out of memory
CUDA error: Invalid context in cuMemAlloc(&device_pointer, size)
CUDA error: Invalid context in cuMemsetD8(cuda_device_ptr(mem.device_pointer), 0, mem.memory_size())
CUDA error: Invalid context in cuMemAlloc(&device_pointer, size)
CUDA error: Invalid context in cuMemcpyHtoD(cuda_device_ptr(mem.device_pointer), (void*)mem.data_pointer, mem.memory_size())
CUDA error: Invalid context in cuMemAlloc(&device_pointer, size)

This happens when I am switching to render mode in the viewport. A similar issue also comes up when I try to just render out an image. CPU rendering runs just fine while in Cycles.

My specs are:

Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)
2.53 GHz intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics Card: Nividia GeForce 9400M

If you could please this would be much appreciated thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew, take a look at this:
http://www.systemagnostic.com/faqs/why-am-i-getting-cuda-error-out-of-memory-when-i-try-to-render/
and this one

This is covered quite extensively in the FAQ

you shouldn’t bother with GPU right now. GF9400M is no good for this.

Alright, thank you both. I was hoping I could get away with using the 9400M for cycles without having any major concerns.
