Cuda rendering

Hi all,

Everywhere I’m reading GPU rendering is faster than CPU rendering.
I’m experiencing the opposite. Are there any setting (outside the render menu) I should take a look at?

My specs:
2x Xeon E5-2650 v2 @2,6GHZ
32GB DDR-RAM
Solidstate drives only (500gb total)
Nvidia Quadro K4000 (running on Solidworks optimized drivers)

I think nothing to be ashamed of but I’m noticing Keyshot (CPU) and Bunkspeed (CPU/GPU) are rendering much much quicker.
Also when I’m CPU rendering in Cycles it’s way quicker than GPU rendering.

Thanks

If you use the right graphics card (GTX cards, not Quadro)
In your case the gpu is just not as good as your cpu

Big tiles render faster on GPU. Try with 256x256, 512x512 or just check it out yourself.

Thanks for clearing this up.

I did try the big tiles, but CPU stays faster. Maybe I’ll add a GTX card if the budget allows it

What will be the best GPU for rendering at the moment within the 1000$ range? Gtx titan or a pair of gtx 780 with 6gb VRAM? Currently i have a amd 290 but i doesn´t work with cycles rendering.
