I made this yesterday it’s just a cop of tea! Show comments
very good render… lighting… !
the cup has just a little bit too much reflection on it… and glow.

neat!
i always wondered why noone makes a tea-cup …only a tea-pot or coffee-mug
nice render
only the table could be a little better
Nice! 8)
Cup and table are very good, even if I agree with basse.
THe liquid within I like less.
If it is cofee it is too red
if it is tea it is too red
if it is choccolate
if it is karkadé it is not red enought

Looks great, any radiosty?
Very nice materials. Especially on the cup itself. Good lighting, too. The angle is good composition. I’d like to have the water vapor a little more prominent, but maybe I’m just greedy.
scw,
I like your image. Your use of environment mapping is good. I have a few suggestions that might add to the quality of your render. Nothing here is a must, or a law, but maybe you will find something you like below.
Maybe your cup model could be improved by attaching the handle, or I should say remodeling the cup with an attached handle. Take a look at this polygon modeling tutorial, for modeling a cup in Maya. I’ve used this tutorial to model cups in Wings 3D, but I have no doubt the same can be done in Blender quite easily.
You may also want adjust your lighting set up. Take a look at this page on Tweaking Light in the Blender.org User Documentation.
The entire ligthing section of the manual has good lighting setup information.
I like the sections on Global Illumination and faking area lighting. You might try setting up a GI dome and then using a soft shadow spot light as your key light for the cup. Try tinting your light also as light usually is not white. A light yellow works for indoors.
I know with Blender 2.28c the Radiosity engine has been much improved.
See JA-Forreal’s Radiosity thread on Blender.org. I think what he shows in his walkthrough there can be done with 2.28c. Someone jump in here and correct me if I’m wrong. So radiosity is an option vs. the GI method above.
I haven’t used it just yet as I’ve been using MLPov 0.83 (pathced PovRay w/HDRI support) for most of my renders.
Ok. I hope I haven’t said too much or too little. I hope this helps.
i disagree …it can be herbal or fruit tea, and those are usually exactly the colour scw used …it’s usually because of the hibiscus
i like it
would be fun to see it toon-render… could look kinda cool 8)
excellant lighting and reflections, interplay of light and steam, and
realism of china surface!
