I was playing around with glass spheres and light effects when my partner walked by and thought they looked like soap bubbles, and thought it would be fun to have a cat playing with them. I’m not skilled enough (yet) to model a cat, but I tried showing a cat reflected in the bubbles only and it worked out pretty well IMO.
The cat is just a flat silhouette but good enough to show reflected.
Not entirely satisfied with the bubbles yet, the coloring seems off and I’m not sure if real bubbles can reflect this clear. But for this image I lean more towards artistic than realistic.
Either way the bubbles are made with a glass BSDF, with a noise texture modulating the thickness of the thin film, which causes the color variations.
Lighting is a single point with two reflectors, one above and one directly behind the cat silhouette.
