Curve Axis Constraint Breaks

I posted this in the Basics and Interface forum but received no reply. Im guessing that it was in the wrong forum. Here is the issue that I am having.

Every time I try move the vertex of a curve towards a mesh and then press CTRL to snap it I lose any kind of axis constraint. I have tried constraining with the Z arrow with SHIFT + drag to only go to the the sides and when I hold CTRL to snap it will snap it wherever it wants ignoring the z constraint. I tried selecting the vertex, pressing G, SHIFT Z and then when I hold CTRL the snapping still is ignored. What setting am I missing or are constraints ignored when you try to snap to the mesh? This is all being done in EDIT MODE. Thanks

I’m not sure I understand your issue, and I can’t reproduce what I think you’re asking (that you can’t use Snap Element and Axis constraint at the same time, I can use both without issue)

Try toggling Snap (shift + tab) so you wont have to hold down CTRL, and see if that changes anything for you. Toggling Snap Element is also the tiny little magnet shaped as a horseshoe in the bottom right of your 3D view.

Thank you very much for the reply. It appears that using snap toggle works. Holding CTRL does not. I will just use the snap toggle going forward. Thank you again.
