Custom Bone Shapes

Good evening all!

Hopefully you can help - It’s probably really simple and I’ve either forgotten / don’t know what I’ve done wrong.

I’m trying to create custom bone shapes for my Piero Rig - And although I can assign a custom bone shape to a bone, and it appears when you select wire frame on, it is not aligned correctly (the Axis are incorrect). The original shape scales, which in turn scales the duplicate Custom bone shape, but I cannot rotate it at all to face the correct way. The original Shape is on the correct axis already, so should work fine. What have I messed up?

Any ideas?

Set the current transform to “normal”. Select the bone, and create a transform orientation for the bones normal. Set the cursor position to the bone. Set the bone to use your shape. Select your shape. Move it to the cursor. In Object->Transform choose align to transform orientation. And in object mode scale the shape to match the bones version. Then in edit mode adjust the shape to fit the model.

2.77 also has options for adjusting the shapes scale, but it still has to be aligned to the bone.

I’m probably being a bit thick - But this doesn’t seem to work? It still isn’t aligned with the original custom shape.

Don’t worry - I figured it out. Basically, just delete it all and start again. Then it works…

sigh…i hate rigging.
