Cut geometry along edges/splines generated from an alpha/mask?

Hi! Is there an addon or feature to cut a geometry using a mask input?
exampel: converting alpha to full geo on foliage etc.

I am heading to zbrush in the meantime if anyone is interested in other ways of doing it (can be very efficient in order to improve performances to go geometry rather than alpha) :

One way in blender:
Subdivide your plane, displace using that alpha, select the invert that should remain lower, delete faces, decimate
