Cutting a donut and making cookie material

I’m trying something and was cutting out my donut. The sharp and strange cut is intentionally.

However, I have no idea how to make the inside look like the inside of a donut. I’d like to create some texture that creates holes. You know what I mean by looking at the image. There is a blend file attached and it is made with EEVEE. This is the first time I’m trying to make this kind of texture stuff and it should be procedural. I thought it would be easier than trying to find a cookie texture.

This is really the early beginning of what I’m trying to do.

DonutCut.blend (2.2 MB)

With the texture, using voronoi and a color ramp for holes is a good start. I think you are on the right track

Some quick suggestions:

  • disable auto texture space, to get rid of the stretching
  • do away with texturing the color of the shader for starts, rely primarily on the bump mapping instead
  • set the color ramp to bspline mode to get smoother shape, add a few more stops to tweak
  • add a bit of sss to the shader
  • for close-ups you might need true displacement instead of bump

The next step would be making the bump/displacement texture more detailed (including maybe one finer voronoi, multiple noise textures, and such) and a lot of tweaking.

thx! that helped a lot!
