Cutting nice holes in mesh

Hey guys, I’ve searched for this but couldn’t apply what I found with decent results. I’m modeling a sink like these - I’m happy with the base model, but now I’d like to cut that round hole in red:

That’s using 2.5. What’s the best way to do this kind of thing? I’ve tried the boolean modifier with, ugh, ugly results, and I can also add geometry to that face around the hole and then delete a face but I lose the smoothness I’ve achieved in the base model. There’s gotta be a better way! No?

sounds like a job for the retopo tool.

Awesome myeakey, this will do! Also in the comments I saw someone explaining how to achieve a similar result with the retopo tool, Modron, I will look into it too. Thanks guys!
