Cyborg Otter Character

I felt like my growth as an artist has slowed considerably in the past few year so I tried:

  • Using the MultiSubdiv modifier to add details for baking to a normal map
  • Designing completely mechanical parts for a character.
  • Proper anatomy?

I think at this point I should probably start learning how to texture properly, but the only thing I can really think of that could be improved with textures is the metal. (Scratches, decals, etc.) I’m completely at loss for detailing and texturing organic models, even though organic modeling is pretty much all I’ve taught myself how to do.

Also, I am unsure of what direction to take my art in, do I keep shooting the cartoon-like stylized look I’ve already established or should I go for photo-realism? I feel like the best is somewhere in between, but I’m not sure where in between or what I need to do achieve that…

If it matters, I’m using EEVEE and just switched from Blender Render a few months ago.
