Cycles - Adding texture to Billboard

Hi,

I’ve been having trouble in adding a texture to the Billboard particles in cycles.

I followed some manuals where it says I’ve to add a UV map to the emitter, as well as a material with the texture that I want to be displayed on the billboard. In short, I added a 512x512 texture to the emitter(sphere).

I can choose the material under the Render tab in the particle settings, as well as the “UV map”(by default) in the "Billbaord Normal UV’’ section, but the billboards do not render.

What could it be that I’m doing wrong?
