Cycles change size of texture in texture paint?

If I texture paint an image onto a mesh, how can I control the size of the image? For instance, to make it larger to avoid repeats on my mesh? I tried changing the brush size, and it does affect the result, but not in a way I want. Is there a way to map the paint the size I want? I tried a mapping node, but it didn’t seem to be the answer.

How about stencil mode (under Brush mapping) ?

  • Right click to translate
  • shift + right click to scale
  • ctrl + right click to rotate
  • “Image Aspect” button gives the proper aspect ratio
  • “Reset transform” button is self explanatory
