Hey. So I make an object follow a strange path. And give it a motion blur at high shutter. No matter what shutter value I give or change the samples it is always 3 cornered motion blur. I mean blender takes the first frame - current frame - last frame ( according to shutter ) and blends a blur between them. But old blender rendering system can use as many frames as we want. Am I missing something or cycles motion blur is worse than old one?
for object based motion it only takes three samples. For deformation blur you can set the number of samples which I think can give you curved blur if set high enough.
You can always use the vector blur even with Cycles.
