Cycles normal baking?

Hi

I sculpted something and tried to bake normal map. Then there was error saying ‘no active object blah blah’.
I rummaged community and found that I have to add unconnected image texture to material node.
So I added random image or added its own uv map material as image texture, then cycles could bake normal and other maps.

…I don’t undertand. ‘unconnected image texture’? What does that mean? Internal renderer didn’t need it. Why should I add unconnected image texture? and was I supposed to add its own uv image as texture?

Just what it says, a texture node that is not connected to anything

Internal renderer didn’t need it
You are not baking with BI and normally that does not use nodes

Why should I add unconnected image texture?
That’s how it was designed to work

and was I supposed to add its own uv image as texture?
Select the texture that you want to bake to in the texture node

OK happened to press enter on my last post and couldn’t edit it (im a new member <.<) but to make it work follow the link. The basic idea is to the object you bake to should have a material with a texture image (pref created through uv editor). And now i realise someone just answered god damned XD. Anyhow good luck, it’s not so hard when you get what you should do!
