I wonder if anyone has any tips on getting a good sea scene when a huge scale is necessary (see image). For this project the sea is scene from such a large distance that the ocean modifier is unpractical. I tried setting it to the maximum my machine could handle, but even then the resolution was still too low so it looked like a toy boat in the water. The sea is now only subdivided in a smaller square where the ship is to make the wake.
Luckily it’s a calm and clear sea so in stills it could look okay because of the reflection (still needs much tweaking) and seafloor texture I took from satellite images. However when animated it misses that movement and twinkle that seas have when seen from distance. I’m thinking maybe with animated texturing I could achieve something to that effect but I don’t know how to do that in Cycles.
