(cycles) Very long wait.

I’m concerned about cycles, I’m rendering with a lot of particles millions.

Cycles says the render has finished at 17mins, thats all fine, but then there is an additional 10-12mins before it actually appears in my files as an .exr, and so collectively it actually takes 28mins per frame, even though I can see the finished result within blender. :spin:

what gives?

sorry to bump, but anyone else experience such things on large scenes, or scenes containing a lot of data?

Can you give us an example file that demonstrates this problem?

unfortunately we are talking about 40gb total cache files so its not an option

I just want to know if this is common working with large sims like this.

Such is the cost of heavy scenes, get used to it or simplify.
