Cycles Viewport Rendering Flickers during Hair Particle Movement

Hello, I’m new to everything that Blender does. I am having problems creating animations (grasses) with hair simulations using cycles viewport render. There is usually a lot of flickering and I would not be able to tell how good the animation is, unless I do an output render with cycles. Also, the only way I can tell how well the hair moves is if I use workbench or Eevee to do viewport rendering. Whenever I select Cycles as viewport renderer, it is a nightmare watching grasses or hairs move due to the heavy flickering. How can I rectify this problem?

I initially thought that the problem was as a result of the sun rays I added to the scene. However it wasn’t. This is because I deleted the sunlight and the problem persisted. I went on to delete the two forcefields I added (wind and turbulence), yet no hope. I have adjusted several settings on the Cycles Render tab, yet no solution.

What am I doing wrong? What settings do I need to adjust in order for my Cycles to render better viewport animation? By the way, this issue is present whether I choose GPU or CPU as the rendering engine.

The picture below is the image I snipped of the hairs/grasses in motion when I had a sunlight and two forcefields on the scene:

As you can see, the display quality is horrible.

Windows 10, AMD Ryzen 7 4800H and RTX 2060 with 32 GB DDR4 Ram and 2TB NVMe SSDs, are my laptop specifications. Thanks for your help.

Hi @Francizy ,

to put it short Cycles is no realtime render engine, so previewing your animation live is just not possible. Thats why evee is so important. I would suggest to work on the animation in solid mode or evee, and only use cycles to check on the final look of materials and ofc to render it in the end.

So this isn’t necessarily a bug? Because I realized that the final rendering with Cycles looked good. At some point, I thought that my GPU and CPU might have developed issues.

Thanks a lot…
