[CYCLES] What's wrong with this standard material setting?

al in the title: starting to use blender back after a while to design my new home
i was trying to apply a basinc material to an obj but when adding a mix shader nothing happens…

i am using 2.65 release…

you have to use a “Mix Shader” instead of a “Color Mix”.
