Cyclops vs Reaper (Subnautica Fanart)

DISCLAIMER 1: All pictures are of a 3D printed and hand painted model, I used blender extensively to create/modify the models, but don’t want to make anyone believe this a 3D render.
DISCLAIMER 2: The submarine is based on another model on thingiverse: , thanks to Maciej for sharing his work under a CC license.
DISCLAIMER 3: The Reaper model is also based on this artwork: by Joshua Nye, thanks for sharing under CC!
DISCLAIMER 4: All models are based on the video game Subnautica™, go buy it if you don’t have it already.

All files (.stl) and more photos are available on thingiverse (link will go live in the next 24h):

This was a fun project! I wanted to spend some quality time with my daughter, so I gave her this project as a Birthday present to get her excited about 3D modeling and printing. Initially I only wanted to print some existing model I found on the interwebs, but then I fired up blender and modeled the cockpit (that was not included in the original thingiverse project). Similarly we decided that it needs a cool stand, so we thought about posing this Reaper below the submarine and let it look like it’s just taking a juicy bite out of it. I used blender throughout the project, mostly rigging/posing and applying boolean modifiers, but also some general light touch ups on the geometry.

[I did some light photo editing on this one]

Dude this is so sweet! Subnautica is one of my favorite games, and I’m only half way through my play through. Great 3d prints!

Thanks, I’m also a huge fan (obviously), but had to pause playing so I could finish up this project. Now I can finally get back to mining some nickel ore.

Huh. I must be less progressed than I thought. I haven’t found any nickel ore yet. Well. Back to the game.
