Will you render us a scary Dalek once they make it to the show? I heard they’re supposed to be fast and fly? Someone else made a dalek model not long ago… and by that I mean in the last two years.

I’ve still to see the new Daleks. I hope they havent changed them too much. Like a camp voice “Ooooh, exterminate the Doctor!”

Flying Dalek? Hmmmmmmm. Daleks aren’t supposed to be fast or fly.

Brian

OK. I have done some updates to the Dalek Model:

Still a lot of work to do on it, like add the shoulder collar, and improve the ear lights.

Anything else?

Looks pretty cool! You need a lot of detail. Bevel, extrude!

I think maybe on those semispheres you could extrude individual faces just a tad-- that might look cool.

looking good!
I was terrified of the Daleks when I was a child! lol
I was trying to find reference images to create a cyberman (my personal favourite out of all the Dr Who baddies)

Wow, I haven’t seen that “thing” in years!

I can’t believe my brain cells still retain the mental images of it. I recall it was from some movie I saw on TV as a child. Kind of scary to me then too.

Believe it or not, I have bevelled most surfaces. It could just be my poopy lighting setup which isn’t showing them up.

I don’t believe the Daleks had extruded faces on the semispheres, at least it isn’t mentioned on the plans I am working on.

Glad you like it though!

Brian

very well done!

And I’ll give you extra points if you can tell me the origin of the name dalek

Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!

…I just couldn’t help that last bit;-)

Thanks

Sam

Was cyberman that six foot robot, which was hidden in a room, he was all clunky n stuff?

Great Dalek model, I just can’t help but laugh at my mum when she tells me how fearfull of the Daleks she was when she was a young girl!

lol…I was terrified too! The story behind them rocks!
(moley: cyberman search  They rule - http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=cyberman&hl=en)

Looks great

PS. Anyone in the UK watch Dr. Who on saturday, should be seeing one of these in action

Yeah, isn’t satuday supposed to be the first time we see the darleks go up stairs?

Anyway… cool model, can you give us a more angled view, might give more detail of the head.

Can’t wait to see it finished.

Nice dalek !
And to think they nearly didn’t make it into the new series…

Yeah, isn’t satuday supposed to be the first time we see the darleks go up stairs?

Yep ! Not sure if that’s a good thing though… It also looks like the daleks will be on Earth for once.

EXTERMINATE!!!
good start

Tut tut! Daleks have been seen climbing stairs in Rememberance of the Daleks (1988):

Still a lot more detail to add / modelling to do on the head. Luckily I have good blueprints from http://www.projectdalek.co.uk/ which gives plans to construct a real life dalek from wood!

It is a BBC Sci Fi series about a time-traveller. The original concept was for an “educational children’s-hour science fiction series”: the time traveller (known only as “The Doctor”) would travel to different eras in a time machine that automatically camouflaged itself to its current surroundings, taking human companions along for an adventure.

The original choice of a Police (Public Call) Box (for “An Unearthly Child” in 1964?) proved so popular that it was written into the show that the camouflage circuit was damaged.

The Doctor is a native of the planet “Gallifrey”, home of the “Time Lords” and a fugitive since stealing his time machine, the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimensions In Space) who is able (in order to accommodate the inevitable changes in the cast) to regenerate his body a number of times.

The Daleks have proven to be one of the most durable, and most memorable (and probably most alien) of the Doctor’s foes.
