Dark grey screen when starting Blender (Windows 11)

Hello everyone,

Since today, whenever I start Blender 4.3, the app window appears completely empty and dark grey (see screenshot). This issue does not affect any other applications.

Things I’ve tried so far:

  • Restarting the computer
  • Updating Windows 11
  • Updating Nvidia drivers
  • Clearing the caches in Appdata
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Blender (both 4.2 LTS and the latest 4.3)

I’ve been using Blender for 10 years, but I’ve never encountered this issue before…

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That’s weird. Some people have similar issues lately.

C:\Users\XX\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.4\config

Move the folder of that path to a different location and run it.
You can initialize the blender.

Or, if this is security related, try running blender with administrator privileges.

I tried that and it didn’t work…
It seems the issue is related to my graphics card(s).
I’ve found a workaround:
When I force Windows to run Blender using the Intel graphics card instead of the Nvidia 4090 (laptop), it works (and CUDA rendering works too)…
I don’t understand why the graphics card is unable to ‘draw’ the window but can still perform GPU compute, but anyway…
Thank you for your answer :))

Given that CPU integration graphics have been solved by the method used by the system, it seems to be related to the graphics driver.

It’s not accurate because I didn’t check the system myself.

This way Nvidia 4090 can’t be used for modeling tasks. However, you can choose to use 4090 GPU in the rendering settings.

However, when this method is used, there is a question of how much CPU integrated graphics can handle modeling tasks.

※ There was a recent Nvidia graphics driver update.
This may be the cause of the problem (if you are using auto update)

The graphics driver installation must be installed after clean removal of all existing installation files.

  1. TRX graphics cards perform best in Optix.
  1. When used with CPU+GPU+GPU settings, it works at the slowest hardware performance.

Ok, I’m gonna investigate that !
Thank you again
