Darth Vader Helmet WIP Armor added

I started this te other day. The materials are just there for now. I also made the render a little brighter in gimp cause I thought it might have been a little too dark to see everything. Im not too happy with the dome and I need to re do the lower half of the mask. Here it its

Not bad! I wish i knew how to write the breathing sound he makes…kuhhh - hhhuhhhh? lol nope…

Got rid of the materials for now. I also completely re-did the dome. I think it looks better, but its still not great. Theres some weird “dents” in it I need to fix.

I also changed the cheeks. There were originally had an edge modifier, but I but subsurf on and made the creases more pronounced. I think it looks better than before.

Redid the materials and fixed some mess spots in the mesh.
What do you think of it?

Pretty neat! Can you post some wireframe views?

Looking much better

As for wireframes, just take a screenshot of editmode and either turn subdurf off or apply it to the editing cage during edit mode. Cuz these renders dont really tell anything

Or if you really want to render in wire-frame , take a look at this tutorial: http://vimeo.com/5659666

I really wasnt satisfied with this. I completely re did the entire facemask. I still havent perfected the dome yet, its the same as before. I think it looks better. Sorry if the render is dark, I can post a lighter one or one with a different background

Last render looks extremly cool. Proportions look basicly perfect too. I have to say I think you have done a 1st rate job and you should be very proud with yourself :D.

Keep up the good work.

Awesome work!!! I really love this! Wish I was a better modeler than what I am, but really great! 5 Stars

Heres a view from the other side with a white background for better contrast

As you can see, there are some rough spots i need to rework on the dome, specifically above the left eye and the general shape of the back of it needs to be rounder.

Also, just for fun, heres the first ever Vader helmet i modeled a while back in 04 i think

Also my avatar. I think i’ll change that to the new one soon

I ditched the materials, they weren’t working for me. I also decided to start on the armor. I think I am going to try to model all of Vader. I’ll see how that goes. For now, i have this

Next up is probably going to be the torso, but more likely the chest box.

A little more progress, belt added

I wanted to replicate a similar looks as this pic from ESB

Mostly because I havent modeled any of the body yet

What you need is reflectivity. The problem with the previous materials were they weren’t shiny or reflective enough. The modeling is top-notch though
