I’m learning Davinci Resolve. Some things are complicated enough that a plug-in would be good. There are plenty of them but they come from sources of varying trustworthiness.
Is there an official source of plug-ins for DR? Ones made by the company or screened and approved by them? I have searched but not found any.
Thanks Okidoki. The DR forum! I’ll sign up there and ask. Lately between work and life my problem solving ability is overloaded and the correct action sometimes escapes me.
I looked at the forum and had my suspicions confirmed. Much complaining about security/privacy/bad behavior by plugins.
Probably there are many DR users here at BA. Remember my hope is to find company made or approved plug ins.
I’m finding that DR has plenty of “atomic” tools. Each does little alone but you can build almost any “molecule” you need. I like that way of doing things but sometimes that’s reinventing the wheel … a complicated wheel. There are a few “make everything perfect forever” buttons too.
What exactly are you looking for? If you’re asking if there is a Resolve equivalent of AEScripts.com or BlenderMarket.com, the answer is no.
Having said that, most plugin manufacturers are pretty reputable. But I’m not sure exactly what it is that you’re looking to have a plugin do as opposed to doing it yourself.
Thanks Okidoki and Midphase! Your replies provided the answer. There are no plugins from Black Magic or companies they approve or partner with. There are reputable sources. The DR forum is a good place for info.
The goal of this post was not to get advice about a specific task. I deliberately didn’t mention any specific task to avoid “right answers to the wrong question”.
I might make a thread to seek specific advice. I don’t like to participate in ten thousand forums or websites and I’m sure many here can answer my simple DR questions when searches and tutorials don’t.
I think most of Natron OFX plugins works with resolve but I didn’t tested them elsewhere than Natron.
Most of these plugins are basic functionalities you might find either in resolve or fusion, but if the shader toy node or the SeExpr node work it might be a great way to extend resolve with custom scripted solutions, maybe not what you exactly looking for but at least Natron is shipped with a great deal of shadertoy plugins you might find useful…
As said, if you have more specific needs a less generic answer might be provided
