Compositing and color correction done in Blender, with some additional correction made in Gimp. Character models created in MakeHuman and Daz|Studio and imported into Blender.
It’s very pretty. The statue turned out nicely and so did the horizon. Thanks for the info about the curvature of the eye by the way. You learn something new everyday!
@ Malefic.Max: Thanks for that! And you’re right, my poses for characters is not very good. =\
Thanks again for everyone’s nice comments. Hopefully something good comes of this. Unfortunately, it’s not a smashing hit, but you win some… and you know the rest.
Hmm… lighting always is tricky, because it seems like my monitor tends to be a little brighter than others for some reason. Newer LCD screens really are much brighter and crisper than older CRTs. I remember having problems on my mom’s CRT screen with some of my pics… but I never thought about making this pic brighter.
Keep it up J! This is more excellent work IMO. I love how the sunlight blows out around the palms. This is not a crit, just some advice, if you had found a way to work more blue into the image, it would be a masterpiece.
This is really a great render… but please render as a png. whatever compression you’re using on the image is giving artifacts in the highly detailed parts, in the sky-road for instance it’s very jaggy. perhaps even rendering at a larger scale would help. honestly, a 12 minute render time isn’t too bad ;D
I really like the sky and the city in the background, did you model everything yourself?
@ dmancrosse I render as a png originally, and then upload as .jpg. .png is a very huge file format!
I modelled the city by hand and all the boats, cars and spaceships. The people models are made in Make Human and Daz|Studio. And I don’t remember where I got the palm trees…I think I made them in a tree generator… I can’t remember. They’ve been sitting on my HDD forever. =\
