I’ve read the manual and a few other sources and cannot get around the “FFMPG” compilation error when adding movie in VSE.
I’m trying to add an avi clip. I can play it fine in Windows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker.
The file has a little green square next to it when it is listed in the file browser.
In the VSE menu bar, click “add”, find my movie in the file list and click the file (I’ve tried both right and left with both “Select with” settings in user prefs. I’m really trying!)
The file box is populated with the file name.
I click "Select Movie and get the error
I can add the audio track from the movie if I select the “Movie plus Audio (HD)” option in the add menu.
I know this is beyond stupid, but I am well and truly stuck. Any clues appreciated.
Does your blender build have FFMPEG included, not all have, Mac & 64bit Windows from Blender.org don’t I believe. Have a look on www.Grapicall.org or make sure what you do download has FFMPEG.
But usually because of a missing codec or wrong keystroke or something like that. Didn’t find anything where you have the avi codec and just can’t load! I’ll check on FFMPG. I’m running the 2.49 distribution for Windows.
Remember that avi is not a codec; it’s a container. It’s entirely possible to have an avi compressed with a codec that ffmpeg can’t deal with. Use a file examiner (like MediaInfo or GSpot) to see what codec was used.
