Okay so i want to put in an ear. But unfortunately i only have 1 poly to work with, what should i do now???

And subdividing the face is exactly something ive been trying to stay away from because that leadst to unclean geometry :no:

ok guys here is the render of the entire head so far. Do you think its complete enough to go on with the hair/the rest of the body???

The ear is to low. If you are going for human proportions the ear should be the same height as the eyes and should be positioned at the end of the cheek.

Something been bothering me about the nose. It’s abit too flat imo try and pull it abit more out. And ditto about the ears. too low.

wellno idea what ur talking about the nose there guys but i got the ear fixed :wink:

well here i did some more minor adjustments to the face and as far as i can tell without any input from other people, is that its good to go for the next stage, so i dunno man what do u guys see that i dont?

the next stage would be to make a mock up of a stick figure and model around it the rest of the model, since i hate rigging very much, so i am going to model him for this still already in the pose, so i took a picture of a stick man(whose hand i unfortunately broke off) so i can pose the cylinders and the spheres in that fashion.

The head looks good now, I dont see anything that needs modifying. Patiently waiting for the next phase :slight_smile:

I don’t see why you limited yourself to that one poly. You could easily delete the back of the head, make some room and then build it back. It would make you a lot less limited in the creation of your ear.

If you don’t want to do that you could make a loop divide that goes from the mouth/check and up to the top of the head (right beside the poly). Deleting any excess poly would leave you with polys for the ear. That should be enough, depending…

if i did that then i would be adding unnecessary polys to where they shouldnt be. Making it a very bumpy model. Every single vertex has a function to define some sort of a shape unfortunately in the beginning of this model i was going towards getting things in and not worrying about it. And as you could probably see that ended me with a very crappy model. So now that i redefined the topology i designed it in a way where there are little to none unnecessary polys. Unfortunately i didnt factor in the ear(which wasnt there originally). So i ended up with this one poly. So i made the best of it. i think i will make it lots better at the sculpting stage.

Just offering up suggestions. I’ve used one poly for the ear before myself. Takes a lot of patience.

Just one question: Who told you death was bony!?:spin:

lol who didnt would be a better question. Every depiction of it i ever saw, was a skelleton in a cloak witha hood and a scythe. :slight_smile:

ok i layed out the scene so far(and i admit, i might have not made it very porportionate but cut me some slack here all i have to work with is a bunch of cubes and spheres). So now its time to do some fishing touches on the head a.k.a making the heair and the uv mapping.

Ohhhh. The grim reaper. Whenever I think of death I don’t think of a bony character. I think that’s silly. The cloak and scythe do come to mind though. Guess I watched too much Dead Like me.

yah maybe ill create a female version of this then render the both of them with the title of Mr. and Mrs. Death :slight_smile:
in any case making the hair out of geometry is proving to be very tough sigh
I wish there was some easier way to do this with great results as such.

Okay im back. These past few days i was busy putting up my new portfolio gallery. So far its coming along pretty well i got most of my artwork put up. Lol.
But im gonna be setting it aside for now to get back on this project so i can add it to the gallery. And i also need to customize the theme to be something more original. You can check it out if you want.

In any case im gonna start modeling out the hair right now(using the hair system is too much of a resource hog, for the crappy qulaity hair you get). i dont know how well its going to turn out i guess we will just have to wait and see :slight_smile:

okay after many, many tries i think im starting to get the hang of this anime hair style lol.
Please tell me what you think, its kinda tough making it like that so i would really love some comments. :slight_smile:
