Hi,
Thought I would take the plunge and try and model a vehicle…have to stop doing tutorials at some point! This is my first WIP thread. Any feedback is welcome.
I’m going top try and do a detailed model of the Land Rover Defender 110. I would eventually like to model a snowy landscape for it, but we’ll see how the vehicle model goes first!
I can’t offer much (not being experienced with vehicles or very much with topology), but:
The rear wheel well, where those 3 panels meet, there seems to be an unintended point of pinching/curvature (at the top right of the triangular shape in the render). Maybe try putting a perimeter loop in there somewhere to flatten that out?
The main horizontal highlight (in the render) running the full length of the side of the car shows that the curvature changes there along the length of the car. Source images seem to show uniform curvature there, instead of the increased thickness under the doors and tapering curve at the back.
The render really gives life to it, looks like the start of a good piece Also is pretty impressive for a first substantial project. Can you post renders in perspective mode as well?
qutorial, thanks for taking the time to post. That horizontal reflection was dodgy looking, i’ve being playing around with the topo and think it looks a little better now (see render). Basically i improved the uniformity in the mesh between panels. Still haven’t had a minute yet to look into the pinching you mentioned. Also I’ve attached a perspective shot. Hoping to give the rear some attention next.
