Deformed face produces triangulation

Hi folks.

when working with a mesh, if I deform a square face so it’s no longer flat, the render adds triangulation to flatten the face into multiple faces. Is there a way to have the render produce the same smooth finish that the viewport shows?

Thanks Ja, the sharp edge is going to solve a lot of problems. I must find a keyboard shortcut list!
