seeing everyone elses work makes me nearly ashamed to post here oh my god. but i dont know anyone else who does 3d & i feel so isolated?

ive been using blender for probly 6 weeks, teaching myself with youtube videos. ive been just recycling the same body for every new character i make bc i wasnt confident enough to entirely start over with a new model but finally tonight i did and i feel like thats a milestone…ive been attempting and failing for a bit

^ first ever attempt at a character. started with a cube. overusing loop cuts bc i didnt know how else to split the faces for colouring, wasnt ready to try uv mapping. rigged it but still dont really get that

^ “second” attempt…used the head and body from the first one. first attempt at a stylised face. still overusing loop cuts. u can see the useless edges left over from the first model

^ “third” attempt. still using the same body. first attempt at better eyes…rendered bc it looks weird in object mode

^ latest attempt. actually started over & used a diff method to usual. created to whole silhouette with a plane and then extruded. first time using a smoothing modifier. learning how to avoid using loop cuts for everything. i wanna use this one to understand rigging better & i wanna try to model a movable mouth with teeth but thats something im still struggling withh : /

ive modelled other things but these feel like my main projects i guess

A good way to get creature models down would be to do a base form using Dyntopo sculpting and then retopologizing it with a second mesh making use of the shrinkwrap and subsurf modifiers.

It might go a bit faster than trying to refine a box-modeled form as it would essentially be going over a template (and the subsurf would give you an all-quad mesh to start with).
