Nothing too special about these, not especially refined or thought out. This is just what I felt like drawing when I was in bed hungry with a headache. Feel free to give any sort of critique, or call me whatever names suit you. I’m interested in any and all input.
I feel depressed too, i have a crappy job and i am writing this at the office!
Great work!
What technique did you use?
Whatever technique you used , your mastering of brushes is very good!
The pose of the character of the first drawing reminds me the kind of poses Egon Schiele used in his drawings.(can’t explain, it must be a very personal impression).
For almost all the inking, I used a Pentel brush pen. I picked up mine for about $6 at my local Hobby Lobby. I used one loaded with black and one with a shade of grey. I did preliminary sketches and used a light box for the inking; normally I don’t like to ink over a light box but these weren’t meant to be high quality. The exceptions were the second and last sketches, which were inked with Speedball nibs. The coloring was done in MyPaint, mainly using the standard “watercolor” brush. My tablet is from Monoprice, and is a very good tablet for the price, though it lacks a lot of the cool features.
Thanks for the input, I like Schiele’s work a lot so that might lend some inspiration. The other artists that were on my mind are Ralph Steadman and David Small, though I wouldn’t compare my work to theirs. Someone compared it to Scott Hampton and Ronald Searle, which was flattering.
Thank your for your answer.
I was also thinking about Ronald Searle when i post that comment, but only for the inking technique, not the style.
You have your own style.
I adore ronald Searle too, i have a book signed by him: “To the Kwai and back”.
Your coloring is excellent, does not look “computer graphics”!
Keep up the good work!
