Desire

I’ve been using blender for a while now, but this is the first time i’ve decided to post one of my images. This is a head that I originally made in clay, and then transferred to the computer. I’d post the image of the clay head too, but I’d need a camera… Anyway, I’m still working on this head, so if anyone can give me some good crits, that would be great.
Also, I’ve been trying to find really good looking hair. My particle hair never looks very good, and my attempts at modelling hair have been disastrous. If anyone has a good tutorial link for hair, I’d be really grateful.

whoa… just add water and stir…

thumbs up

textureing (ie materials) and lighting are cool too…

For the hair you might want to try makehair, it’s part of the makehuman project. I haven’t had time yet to try it myself, but I’ve seen some nice results with it over here.

A small comment on the model: the part between the ear and the eye looks a bit stretched and squashed. Though I’m no expert on head-modeling, so it might be just me.

The tongue looks too stiff to me. Perhaps give it less rigidity and make it look wetter. Great work!

he looks like a blob of icecream, strangly i feel like eating him.

I was going to post a model head I was working on, but after seeing this. It’s not worthy.

Great Job, Dude! There is something about the tounge… Maybe make it a bit shorter.

sory just why is this called desire?

looks cool though- good job

lol, that’s a funny head… nicely modelled! For hair you might want to use the fiberscript… check out this thread:

So I haven’t been able to post for a little while becuase of work and other assorted things. I’m going to start updating the work regularly now.

So, I was going to post a new picture, but I see I accidently updated my old picture, or the link to it. Damn. Anyway, I worked on his tongue a little, I wish the old one was still there to compare it to. I’m thinking of adding an apple in the air in front of him. That’s why it’s labeled desire. Yea, all right then.

This is the first attempt at an apple and a new lighting set up.
Also, how do you take screenshots of the work screen?

Hmmm…I think he looks a little fat. But then, that’s the point, right?

Anyway, you wanted to know how to get a screenshot of your working environment in Blender. Try the little button on the 3D window header with a tooltip of “Render this window (hold CTRL for anim).”

If that’s not what you want, use the GIMP. Here’s how: Go to File->Acquire->Screen Shot. This brings up a little dialog, from which you select “Single Window”. Another little dialog box pops up with a crosshairs in it (I know, the GIMP really is dialog-happy %| ). Drag the crosshairs over the Blender window and release. Voila, you have a total screenshot. (Note, if you use Photoshop or something else, I don’t know how it would work in those.)

Great job head modeling. I certainly couldn’t do that…yet.

Edit: I just noticed that your lamps don’t have the right clipping values. That’s why you’re getting that line across the plane near the spotlight. Just reduce the ClipSta value for the lamp and it should be fine.
