deslexia=creativity?

Ive been wandering weather dyslexia and outher things are linked to creativity. So ive disided to make a poll to find out.
i dont no if anyone else on the form is deslexic
everyone I know with deslexia is also ceative in some way, genarly art and music.

verry creative meens you think of new ideas all or most of the time

less creative meens you only think of new things ocasonaly

I’m also deslexic, and on my first school the teacher always told me I was too dumb to remember things, write properly or read smoothly. When I became 11 and went to 2nd school they said I should do a very low level because I was too dumb and messed up my tests for 2nd school. But my parents disagreed and just let me do a test year where you are tested in which level you fit the best but not lose a year, so the 2nd year on 2nd school I went to a normal level and actually finished 2nd school with exams level maxed. Afther that I went to a Graphic Lyceum because I was quite creative with drawing and designing, I also learned to use flash 4 and photoshop 5 and started to enjoy graphics and multimedia. I finally finished and became graphic designer / visualiser, and now I’m doing communication & multimedia design which is again a level higher and creative.

I’ve never been good at writing nor theoretic stuff, but I always enjoyed drawing and creating things.

haha, dont fool yourself. Ive got dyslecix friends, and they’re cool, but Dyslexia has NO…
0, nada, zip, zilch…
Connection to creativity. At all. My Friends are actually a tad less creative than me. Find another way to boost your self esteem.

Id like to clarify: Im sure youre quite creative, but Im sure you and your friends were born or grew that way, and that youre dyslexia had nothing to do with it.

And JD-Multi: Man, what a jerk of a teacher. Way to promote learning, right?

shrug

Does it really matter?
Are left-brained people more creative?
Are left-handed folks more adept at drawing?
Does <insert common personality trait/dysfuntional order> make you a better person?

If they are, good for them I suppose… Does that mean people who aren’t naturally dyslexic should be proud if they are creative? Or is it the other way around? Well… I reckon it doesn’t really matter as long as you are creative  (or at least are working hard for it).

Being “different” at any level can create an adverse response from ignorant people. So in order to function in that world, one has to overcome adversity. And overcoming adversity is a creative process. So in that sense, yes, being dyslexic can promote creativity.

being ‘differant’ can cause a lot of pent-up emotions, which can force themselves out as artwork if you have an artistic bent. mental disorders don’t usually mean a less or more active brain, just one that thinks a little differantly than most, this can be more creative, less creative, better at math, worse at math, or whatever…

ooh…true, skottish

but then, the most creative of the world can be normal, but because of their unnatural interest in Creative things, they become abnormal.

So, maybe Creativity is some thing of a ‘disfuction’, or maybe being un-creative is…

Ill go for the latter

Dyslexia is a result of a highly right-functional brain, since the brain is so wrapped up in pictures and images, it has trouble comprehending the slow, sequential order of words in language. This high right-brained-ness may, in fact, mean you’re better at visualizing or percieving 3d forms, but it doesn’t make you creative in the slightest. You might be creative and have dyslexia, but… yeah. Try saying ‘dyslexia = creative’ to a novel writer, some time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Depends.

Are left-brained people more creative?
Are left-handed folks more adept at drawing?

It’s all about potential. Being right-brained (which is the part of the brain which regulates emotions, creativity, language and the left part of the body) means you have more potential than left-brained people to be creative, adept at creative things. Just like you have more potential to suffer from certain diseases if one of your parents/grandparents suffer from them.

Does <insert common personality trait/dysfuntional order> make you a better person?

Being psychopathic will certainly not make you a better person, to give you an example.

Does that mean people who aren’t naturally dyslexic should be proud if they are creative? Or is it the other way around?

If you’re creative, that’s good for you. No matter who you are. It doesn’t really matter.

Which is what I mentioned
edit: same goes with all that other stuff (left-brained, psychopatic, etc). It may or may not affect your creativity is what I mean, but we can’t help much with how we’re made up so why worry. And I certainly don’t want to judge other people’s creativity by what they are.

thanks for all the replies, I wisent saying that it mattered I was just curious. I think the resin why im good at 3dcg is because it works from simple shapes, shape and space is something that ive always been good at, im not good at calculation type maths.
I cannot create anything remotely realistic in real life!
