Detailed Floors and Walls

Hello,

I am not sure if this belongs in the modeling or texture area because I really dont know the best way to go about it myself.

I have been doing architectural renderings/ walkthroughs with blender for a few months now and am very pleased with the results (as is my boss) but I am lacking in one very important area. I can not for the life of me figure out the best way to produce realistic bathroom tiles/ wood floor boards. What I am really after is finding out what technique you all prefer. I can create a wood texture just fine, as well as a tile texture. I just cant get the realistic divisions between pieces. Do you model each tile for a high quality render? do you create your own tile map? Do you UV map the texture on?

I seem to keep running into the same tutorials over and over on my own so If anyone could let me know of their favorite tutorials or techniques regarding this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

Wow, that is quite a realistic looking room - pretty much exactly what I am looking for. Thank you for the link. Correct me if I am wrong but It seems like I will need to become a bit more familiar with UV mapping to really understand this…

Thanks

Bingo! Monkeyman. Keep playing with it. The more you use it the more familiar you will become. Its a powerful and fun tool!
