Detailed shuttlecraft

Very cool. check out my TOS Enterprise from long ago.

I like the way they are presented :stuck_out_tongue:

Unless you know something about the world settings that I don’t the answer is “No, it’s not”. The ambient light or more like a uniform “wash” and certainly doesn’t provide shadows that enhance the details of a mesh.

Now that’s a nice animation! Love the bridge bit. Heck, the whole thing was pretty spiffy (if I might be allowed to use that word). How did you do the stars?

FInally got around to fleshing out the aft compartment as well as fixing some mesh errors left over from the not so gentle development stage. Things look much better from a mesh standpoint and the nose has been fixed (both the lower curvature and general angle where it meets the sides).

Still need to re-cut the viewports

Here’s a few renders of how things are fitting together

Here’s one that sort of looks like it’s had some major nacelle damage and is drifting along somewhere

Tried my had at Blender’s Video Sequence Editor for the first time and here is the resulting animation…

VSE Test (4.51MB, WMV9, 16.650 seconds)

Around here it’s darn close: https://blenderartists.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12756

I like it. It looks very much like an orignal series shuttle.

Question about the movie itself: Did you use the blender sequencer to put that frame around it? The sequencer is a tool I have yet to learn, so I don’t really have an idea of it’s features.

Actually the background image is just a background I used when pre rendering the source AVIs. I rendered three animations: 1 exterior solid, 1 exterior wire, and 1 interior with the walls transparent blue.

I then used the sequencer for fade between them in different combinations.

For some reason, I CANNOT get your fake GI file to open at all…it keeps crashing blender.

what version of Blender did you use for it?

Or am I just missing something???

Help!

BUMP!

Still need help with this…

Cujo13: It crashes my Blender 2.34 as well.

Here is a file made in 2.34 that should work for you and explain everything. If you have any questions, let me know.

Note: It is packed with the uffizi_probe Ang Map world texture, so it will be a bit of a download if you have a 56K connection. Sorry for that.

[EDIT]Changed the file to a ZIP file. Should be a little quicker now.[/EDIT]

Wow! What a great model. But it confirms something I’ve always wondered about those shuttles.

No bathroom. :stuck_out_tongue:

Honestly, you should make a poster of that. It looks great.

why would you need a toilet … just open the back door and take a wizz.
that would be funny if i alittle impossible.

Hey thanks… but when I try to download and open your .zip file, it tells me that it is corrupt or invalid. Hehehe can ya check it and send it to me again?

thanks for taking the time to do this for me… much appreciated!

Cujo31

Sorry…

But I didn’t get a response from BgDm…

So

BUMP

Thanks…

FourMadMen,

I’m not a Star Trek fan. However, I like the illustration quality of the renders on the first page. The lighting really makes it stand out. Good job.

Cujo31: Sorry man. Long weekend here and I was busy with the family.

I edited my post above. Took out the ANG MAP background to lower the file size. Should be fine now.
