Details matter! These renders are part of a larger project, but I’ll post more focused ones first.
Close-up and focused shots like these effectively highlight delicacy and care. They focus on smaller objects that enhance the observer’s immersion and convey a sense that someone lives in these environments.
However, it’s not enough to simply bring the camera close to an object. You need to have a clear intention, know your client, and understand their tastes and goals for the space they want to live in. For example, in this fictional scenario, I designed this house with someone in mind who enjoys music as a hobby, so I included scenes with musical instruments.
This practice helped me improve my knowledge of framing small objects.
I was just wondering something. Is the light in any of those images supposed to be sunlight? Because if yes, the sky and everything outdoors would be much brighter.
Great job. Yeah I’m working on improving my skills in this area too. I’m trying to learn what makes me say, “Hey, great digital image!” instead of “Is that a photo?” I don’t have the answers. I think we do better with man-made stuff like your 3rd image. I can’t quite say what sticks out about the first 2. Maybe the table top needs a bit more bump/normal in the 2nd? It feels kind of laminated. Maybe some edge detail on the round cutting board? In the first one the roughness contrast is too high and the table looks wet or oily. The candles and the reflections don’t look the same. They actually look better in the reflection. The white wall in the distance looks perfectly flat while the one on the right looks very grey and bumpy. Maybe different materials but they look too similar if that’s the case. Compositionally, I’d play with the fruit bowl and the chair on the right. Maybe both bowls need to be bigger or smaller? The book, lights, and bowls are all relatively the same size. Just push the chair into the scene (or away from the table) a tiny bit. Where it is, it confuses the eye. I agree with the lighting comment above. 1 and 3 look like evening light, 2 looks like overhead electric.
Trust me these are GREAT renders and my comments are just me trying to figure out this stuff for my own work. Excellent work.
