Does anyone know of a way to compare two .blend files and extract the differences between them (other than going through every setting), similar to what the Unix ‘diff’ command does for text? I could imagine this being done through an xml export, for example.
This came up as I helped someone here through the notorious “can’t render bake my UV textures” problem. It was solved by appending the object into a new .blend file, and we never found the setting that was causing the problem. A diff type comparison might be helpful for debugging these kinds of problems. It could have a place in everyday use as well, for example to keep render settings consistent.
