Different render engines in view layers?

Pretty sure it’s not currently possible, but I want to do a render layer of floating dust particles in eevee to comp over the rest of my scene which I’m rendering in cycles, and it would be very handy to have a way to set the render engine for a view layer rather than having to duplicate the scene and then be mindful of keeping the two scene synced.

Probably more of a right click select suggestion than a thread here, as I’m 99% sure the answer is still that it’s not possible, and just looking at it I’m not even sure how it would work in terms of having all the options in the Rendering tab being able to be edited per view layer…

Yeah that’s my current workaround, not ideal but i think that’s the only solution currently
