I animated a walk cycle for this dinosaur model and then used an empty to transform the model to the right position and have it move forward. After finally getting through that, now, it looks like, my best guess seems, the eyes and mouth are parented to the wrong object? Or it was parented to the right one but had different applied transformations to the base dinosaur when that was then parented to the empty axis?
Not sure if that makes sense but that’s where I’m at! Would love some thoughts on this… (Can send more info/files)
Hi, the eyes and teeth should be parented to the head bone the lower teeth to the jaw bone.
You realised you can get a screenshot directly from blender no need for photo.
first screenshots the whole blender window,
the second waits for you to click in one of the editor-areas then produces a screenshot of just that editor.
For stuff like eyes and teeth, that you want to move with the armature, but you don’t want them to deform / squish, then add bones to armature for the extra parts (bone-names like Eye.L , Eye.R , Teeth.Upper , Teeth.Lower). For each of these extra bones in Armature Edit mode, go to Properties > Bone > Deform (uncheck the Deform button). Make sure you parent these bones to something logical like the Head bone of your armature… they don’t have to be connected to this parent bone, they will just automatically keep their relative position during posing.
Then for each extra non-deformable object and its bone,
Armature Edit mode : select bone
Object mode: selected Object, shift-select bone
ctrl-P (parent) : choose “Bone”
Now by default, these objects will follow the armature and main deformable model around during posing. You can also transform the bones of these object during posing, if you want the objects to transform (move, rotate, scale).
