Dinosaurs & Prehistoric Life

You really have a knack for creating quality dinosaurs/other prehistoric beasts quickly. Nice.

How did you do the teeth? Is it a separate object that you modeled and then added to this model? They look awesome

Thanks!
@RedHawk, the teeth are separate objects, all UV unwrapped and textured etc., and parented to the jaw bones.

Thanks again,
Unfortunately there’s likely to be slow progress at the moment since I’ve got a load of art coursework to do and several exams in the next month or so.

More progress to the texturing. Only using a small (1024x1024) texture atm, will then bake onto an asymmetrical 4096x4096 texture map.

Still need to texture the toes and the tongue, then onto specular and bump maps.

This is truly kickass and inspiring work!

What is the process called where you paint in Blender? I want to search for some tutorials on that technique. Are there tutorials available?

Thanks. Can’t wait to see the show!

Thanks!
The process of painting is usually called texturing or texture painting, there should be tutorials on the web somewhere, but I think just tutorials on painting in photoshop/gimp should help. It’s just a process of layering up the colours you want and working detail into it  Also a pen tablet helps if you’re wanting to go into texturing.

Here’s the latest on the Lystrosaur:

Turntable in the works!

Also, an update on the film:

I’ve finally got a sort-of final script for the first episode; we’re hoping to get a first scene filmed in a couple of weeks, and then edit it so there’s something finished to show to get more support.

That means that the next creature I’ll be working on is a large, ceolophysid type dinosaur, which features in the opening sequence.

Thanks again, and please like us on Facebook here!

Lystrosaur turntable, as promised
(Sorry about the dodgy thumbnail picture, youtube glitched up the colours)

Brilliant work, looks as good as any dinosaur in Primeval.

Thanks

Here’s an update to our title sequence:
