Direct Cable

it is the first time i make a direct cable connection from 1 computer to another.i sucessfuly connected them and tried to copy things from one to another, but i don’t know how.i don’t know how to map a network drive.if anybody has xperience on that and want to help me,i will appreciate it.i need someone to tell me what to do step by step.please help!

mapping a network drive is quite easy, i got shown how last night.
That is, if you can access the other computer at all.
You just select the folder, then under tools, map network drive. You just select a letter, and it does it all.

ok…i can access the other comp.i connect sucessfuly.ok,so what i’m supposed to type where it says path? should i leave it like that(not type anything there)? then i want to know how i search for folders i want to copy from one comp to another?

type the IP address of the other comp.

You have to share a folder on the computer you need to connect to. Right-click on a folder and select Share (or Sharing and Security). After you share the file goto other computer and map the drive to it.

The path should be: \your_computer_name\your_share_name
If you don’t know the name of your computer, goto a cmd prompt (start–>run–>cmd (or command for win9x). Type in hostname
This gives you the computer name.

you don’t need a shared folder if you map the driver with a usernamer/password.
