DirectX 8 SDK installation problems

About half a year ago I purchased a book on DirectX 8 game programming. It came with a CD containing the DX8 SDK, which is over 130 megs, which keeps me from downloading on my 56k modem that connects at 20k on a good day.

I tried to install it, but it kept crashing my computer. I thought it was a faulty disk, so I took it back for a refund and had them order me a new one. I got the new one and had the same problems. I installed it on my dad’s computer and it went fine except the uninstall application didn’t install. I took it off his and tried putting it back on mine to no avail.

I was going to wait until I built my new system to try it again, but I’m getting impatient, as I currently have no income and what I have stored away has to get me through the winter. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going wrong?

Maybe try the DX9 SDK?

I can’t download it. It’s over 130 megs and it would take almost 40 hours.

So? I’ve downloaded bigger files, and I’m on 56k.

Only got one line and I have to keep the phone lines open. I’m waiting callbacks for jobs, possible job offers, my brother and friends call the moment they become aware of a job opening (or shortly after if they get overwhelmed on their job) and I have to keep the lines open during my parents’ travel times, so I can’t afford to tie up the lines for almost two days.

Anyway, I have fixed the problem. My brother was here today and he copied the DX8 SDK folder to my desktop and I installed it from there. Now if I could find out how to model organic models like I tried to for the past five years…

Get a program like Go!zilla, which allowe you to resume the download…

Gozilla comes with Gator, which is the most notorious adware program. If you use Adaware to get rid of it Gozilla won’t run anymore.

Then use leechget, or flashget. :stuck_out_tongue:
