Hey everyone!
I’m excited to actually share this here finally. It’s been on the market for a while but I’ve updated my asset, DirtJam, a funky shader node group for Cycles and Eevee, designed to help create stylistic glass, liquid, gel, and other transmissive materials. Whether you want crystal-clear surfaces, milky textures, or wild alien-like dispersion effects, DirtJam gives you the freedom to make your gelatinous dreams a reality or whatever.
With the new Blender 4.3 update, I’ve made a few improvements:
- Continuous Dispersion: Replaces the old split dispersion for a smoother, more realistic prismatic effect.
- Improved Grime Placement: Grime now builds in surface cavities even more accurately, adding depth and detail to your materials.
- Enhanced Volume Rendering: Cleaner, more realistic volumetric effects with improved light path calculations for better transmission.
- General cleanup for better performance and usability.
Features Highlights:
- Input controls for albedo, surface imperfections, and normals.
- Adjust transparency and volumetric density with a transmission slider.
- Smooth prismatic color dispersion with IOR control for realistic material simulation.
- Subsurface scattering for waxy effects.
- A grime layer that automatically enhances your model’s details.
- It also works in Eevee, minus the volumetric features features.
The package includes an updated .blend file, ready to use node groups, and a sample imperfection texture to get you started.
Check it out!
If you’re looking for a way to make your transmissive materials pop or just want to experiment with some wild dispersion and subsurface effects, DirtJam might do the job.
Let me know what you think, and feel free to share your renders, I’d love to see them!
