Displace map giving odd result Help!

Hey there! im new to blender im tryig to make some water ripples on my water surface using the help of the UV map which i made in the texture Tab And the vertex group which i painted in weight mode on the water plane to place the location of the ripples but i my ripples are odd any idea how i can fix this?

Try applying the scale to your planes(ctrl+a and pick scale) If that wont do you can try scaling your model up or decreasing displacement strenght. His model could be different scale so strength affects it much more less
