its nice but no one’s gonna give you major kudos because its a sphere :P, the edges/ cracks seem a little clean cut to me.

[!] Broken PC [!] Works for me!

Nice sphere.
Would be nice to have lava in the cracks.
P

cool. I like the look, but it does kind of look like something out of a video game, maybe metroid. Don’t know if that’s what you were going for, but that is what pops into my head when i see it.

wait is that only a sphere.
i heard that the textures could not make hols it would only change the lighting and make you think it is a hole!!!

well anyway it looks cool. just the grey texture isn’t very good

nice and detailed shader! very good!
many 3d applications has shader collection with detailed good shaders like this, blender needs too

WHY USE SUBSURF 6 ?!??!

pretty nice…

Come on man.
I mean, it’s not even reflective…

Making something reflective is the easiest part, so what you’re saying is totally useless.

His test is all about the displacement and texture.

Yeah, but it’s not in keeping with the fine traditions of elysiun. If you post a sphere in finished projects then it has to be reflective

Then I shoot you in the forehead.

<Gunshot then Splat.>

(Oh yes I know I’m sadistic)

Uh oh. Seems everyone is pissed at even titles that sound like a noob render :-?

Im SO changing the title.

Thats BUMP MAPS. Displacement maps actually change the geometry.

With subsurf 5 the artifacts are more noticable.

And why are people argueing about shiney spheres? If you want to complain about something, do it to the pic i posted. You’re gonna get this locked.

I added another one up there. I might post settings later if anyone is interested in this. rather than chrome spheres…

ow ok. well we learn everyday. even after nearly 3 years of blending.

the second one is pretty cool. but i would add different colors like some grey.

now it is time to go see what displacment map is

Can’t see the image either

SubSurf-6? Woa, that’s beyond reality.

I hope to see this picture soon.

Ok then, i changed them all to attachments. The host seems to be busy or something.

I’ve added one more. I’m thinking of making a Displacement library.

Any suggestions of what you’d like to see? I think im going to post more once I have a bunch.

I always use subsurf 6… :-?

Anyway, nice work Hafnui, keep it up man!
I definitly agree with whoever said that blender needs a shader collection. I used to have a b.blend with tons of shaders in it, but it’s on a defunct hard drive… :frowning:

a collection of easy to use materials would be great.

“Any suggestions of what you’d like to see?”

hmmm beach sand, gravel, ice, tarmac, rubber.

i believe they used to do “material battles” over at Blender Battles but have stopped whilst they wait for the new nodal system to be rolled out for Blender
